Where Is Antique Alley in New Hampshire?
Antique Alley is the nickname for the antique shops strung along US Route 4 between Concord and Portsmouth. The heart of the alley sits in Northwood, Epsom, and Chichester, with more shops at the Seacoast end and around the capital.
The road itself is old. US Route 4 runs 253 miles from upstate New York to Portsmouth, and through central New Hampshire it follows the line of the Portsmouth to Concord turnpike, built around 1800. Northwood's own history credits that turnpike with the town's early growth and notes that it is now known for its lakes and its many antique shops.
Visit New Hampshire lists Route 4 Antique Alley as a state attraction, and the Northwood stretch also appears as a highlight of the Upper Lamprey Scenic Byway.
Dealers vs Storefronts
You will often see Antique Alley NH described by its number of dealers. That figure counts dealers, not buildings. A single multi-dealer center can hold dozens of booths, each rented by a different seller, so a large dealer count can mean far fewer buildings. Plan your day around storefronts, and expect the big centers to take the most time.
